A water slide tester is responsible for visiting water parks and trying out new water slides. Depending on the company, the tester may receive a contract, along with a salary and a travel allowance. In early 2013, the British company First Choice advertised an opening for its water slide tester position. People from all over England applied for the job. The company selected college student Seb Smith for the position in April 2013.

A water slide tester has to travel to international water parks  and test out water slides by sliding down them and rating the overall experience.

What is a carbon footprint?

Your carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide that enters the atmosphere because of the electricity and fuel you use. It's measured in tons of carbon dioxide. Your carbon footprint mostly depends on:

·        how much energy you use to heat your home

·        the electronics and appliances you use

·        what kind of transport you use day-to-day

·        how often you fly.

All of these activities pollute the planet. Small changes in our lives can make our carbon footprint  smaller, and the planet cleaner!

Some dramatic changes are happening in the Artic. Ice caps are melting and the animals that live there are losing their habitat. Wolves and reindeer are disappearing from the Arctic tundra and polar bears are also finding it difficult to find food because they live and hunt on ice – the ice is melting. Some scientists say that polar bears may become extinct by the end of the century if we don’t act fast.

Organic gardens:  this is the new trend in many American schools. Supporters of this idea say the benefits of school organic gardens are numerous: they teach kids about nature and home economics, they help create stronger social groups . Melanie Carlson, a 13-year-old student at Benjamin Franklin High School, California, says that the only disadvantage is that your hands get dirty. ‘But this is nothing compared to the joy of eating veggies without chemicals!’ she adds.
